The pieces are sketched and cut from a cotton fabric entirely spun, dyed and woven in Burkina Faso by the weavers we work with.

This fabric, Faso Dan Fani by its name, will provide you with the luxury of comfort to the touch combined with the benefits of 100% natural materials.

Our manufacturing conditions

Kounlana products are designed and made in Paris , France. We have chosen to work with eco-responsible materials and in an ethical context. We use traditional West African loincloths such as the Faso Dan Fani in cotton also produced using artisanal techniques in Burkina Faso. Our plain velvet, linen or cotton fabrics are entirely sourced in Europe and are certified by the OEKO-TEX label . Our art objects are made in collaboration with artisans in Burkina Faso and Martinique .

The confection is 100% handmade.

The history of the brand

Kounlana is a word in Dioula, a dialect mainly spoken in Burkina Faso and Mali. This word means "the head resting". It is symbolically at home, in your cocoon, that you can visualize the brand's products. At home, where our mind wanders to the lands where it can rest.

So here it is, "everywhere else, a little bit of home" , a little bit of Kounlana to evoke the idea of ​​rest, of the comforting warmth of returning home, of the sobriety and authenticity of the elements of mother earth.

The uniqueness of the fabrics used in the making of Kounlana products means that they often exist in few copies.
